| | Evoluent Mouse Friendly Compact Keyboardby EvoluentModel # KB1-SBPrice: $65.00 View CartIn Stock? Yes More Information | This keyboard is 'mouse-friendly' for right handed individuals as they can put the mouse where the numeric keypad would normally be, and still have access to the keypad with their left hand when needed. The compact layout allows this keyboard to be used in situations where conventional left handed keyboards will not fit. This is the only compact keyboard with a numeric keypad on the left side.
If you are looking for a left handed keyboard, a superior solution is to purchase a compact keyboard and discrete numeric keypad, and position the keypad to the left of the keyboard (thus creating a left handed keyboard, but having the ability to move the keypad away when not needed). A good option for this would be the Kinesis Freestyle Solo Separated Keyboard and Kinesis Low Force Tactile Numeric Keypad. |

The Evoluent Mouse-Friendly Keyboard has a more sensible layout with the numeric keypad on the left so your mouse may be much closer on the right. This allows your mouse to be directly in front of your shoulder. Your arm is in a relaxed neutral position when using the mouse.
The general layout of the standard keyboard was designed before the introduction of the mouse. Since number entry was one of the primary functions of the keyboard at that time, having the numeric keypad on the right side made sense. Now, most users use the mouse far more than the numeric keypad, so the keypad now occupies the space where the mouse should be. | | Ergonomic Benefits |
|---|
- 1.: An ordinary keyboard has a numeric keypad where the mouse should be. Your mouse is too far away.
- 2.: The Evoluent Mouse-Friendly Keyboard has a numeric keypad on the left. Your mouse may be much closer on the right.
- 3.: An ordinary keyboard forces your arm to stretch outward to reach the mouse.
- 4.: The Evoluent Mouse-Friendly Keyboard allows your mouse to be directly in front of your shoulder. Your arm is in a relaxed neutral position when using the mouse.
